Holistic Health and Hawaiis Renewable Energy Future: This informative talk is presented by Richard Esterle, Ph.D. From 5-6:30 p.m. on Feb. 25. Dr. Esterle will discuss the results from his recent dissertation survey research which revealed that collective efficacy, perceived time urgency, and perceived health literacy were significantly associated with the perceived likelihood of reaching 100 percent renewable energy in North Hawaii by the year 2045. These findings may inform the design of intervention programs and/or preventative measures to promote overall long-term community health and positive social change.

Hamakua-Kohala Health opens in Waimea’s Carter Building
HAMAKUA — On Jan. 26, Hamakua-Kohala Health opened a new location in Waimea’s Carter Building. The facility, HKH’s fourth, provides needed pediatric, internal medicine, and mental and behavioral health services to North Hawaii.
With dairy closing, hunters concerned about access road blocked
PAAUILO — Hamakua hunters are concerned about losing access to lands near Ookala after Big Island Dairy was given the go-ahead to install a gate on an internal road that not only leads up to its facilities but has long-served as an ingress for those headed to neighboring hunting grounds.
