Anna Ranch begins free meditation gatherings
Beginning Nov. 5, residents can participate in meditation led by Kristen Cosmi from 5-5:45 p.m. every Monday at Anna Ranch. All meditation styles are welcome, although it will be a quiet space.

Galaxy Forum coming to Kahilu Town Hall
A special astronomy and science talk featuring speakers from Hawaii and international world-class observatories and Mayor Harry Kim will be held from 4:15-6:15 p.m. Nov. 7 at Kahilu Town Hall, behind Kahilu Theater, in Waimea. Sponsored by the International Lunar Observatory Association, the event will address “Astronomy From the Moon” and “Hawaii 21st Century Astrophysics.”
Nut cheese workshop back by popular demand
From 10-noon Nov. 10, Dietician Vivienne Aronowitz and Daniela Penitenti will hold a second dairy-free cheese workshop at Waimea Middle School’s STEAM building. WAIMEA — Work is well underway on the expansion of three North Hawaii Community Hospital (NHCH) facilities in Waimea that will largely increase their health care scope for patients both on and off campus: a Primary Care Clinic, a Specialty Clinic and an expanded emergency room.

WAIMEA — The 19th annual George Heneghan Halloween Fun Run and Monster Mash Dash will begin at 7:30 a.m. this Sunday on Parker School’s lower campus.
WCS open house set for Nov. 3
Waimea Country School welcomes interested children and their families to an Admission Open House from 10 a.m.-noon November 3. Visitors will tour the campus and hear about the school’s fully accredited learning program and ohana atmosphere from faculty, students and parents.
Waikoloa Elementary Book Fair soon approaches
From 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 29 through Nov. 1, Waikoloa School PTSA will host a Scholastic Book Fair at the school library. On Halloween, it will close early at 2 p.m.
Waipio Cookhouse recognized by Gov. Ige
Known for dishes prepared using fresh ingredients grown on the farm adjacent to the restaurant, Waipio Cookhouse received a letter of recognition from Gov. Ige Oct. 12 as the Big Island’s first farm to table restaurant.
UTBT cookbook signing celebration this Thursday
From 4-8 p. m. this Thursday, the Under the Bodhi Tree staff will host a launch party for the plant-based restaurant’s brand new cookbook in their store at The Shops at Mauna Lani. Residents and visitors can pick up a copy and get it signed by Chef Stephen Rouelle, while enjoying light pupus, kombucha and refreshments as part of the celebration. Nutrition Label Workshop presented by Hawaii Technology Development Corporation
From 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Oct. 29, business owners and residents can attend an informative workshop at The Kohala Center in Waimea led by Dr. Lauren Tamamoto of Hawaii Food Consulting. She will explain key changes and new labeling requirements for packaged food products, and how to evaluate food labels to determine if they are in compliance.
Teens design their own jewelry
North Kohala Public Library is hosting a special jewelry-making class just for teens, ages 13-19, at 6 p.m. Oct. 29. Jewelry artists Sid Nakamoto and Gail Ching-Lee will demonstrate techniques for simple and beautiful jewelry design.
HalloQUEEN coming to Waikoloa Beach Resort
