The Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) football season continued over the weekend. Most squads have one game remaining in their regular-season slates.

KEALAKEHE — Third-seeded (East) Hilo girls volleyball drove to the Kona side over the weekend for one objective — advance to the semifinals of the Central Pacific Bank/Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) Division I Tournament. On Saturday’s opening-round match against No. 2 (West) Kealakehe, the Vikings did just that.

NFL Week 7 has some monster matchups. The lineup features a Super Bowl “rematch” between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers and a battle for control of the best division in the league between the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. Both of these marquee games have odds hovering right around a two-point spread. The 49ers and Vikings are favored.

CHICAGO — Chicago White Sox fans who chanted “Sell the team” at Guaranteed Rate Field this summer might get their wish after all.

NEW YORK — When the NLCS began, the Mets had an obvious edge over the Los Angeles Dodgers when it came to starting pitching. The Dodgers have 10 pitchers on the injured list, including three starting pitchers, while the Mets have a deep rotation full of starters who have been pitching deep into games.

Everyone in the building knew who was going to get the ball.
