Caitlin Clark made more WNBA history Wednesday night. The Indiana Fever rookie sensation recorded 19 assists against the Dallas Wings, a new WNBA record for most assists in a single game. The previous record was 18 from Courtney Vandersloot, which she set on Aug. 31, 2020, with the Chicago Sky.

HCRA: Kai ‘Ehitu dominates regatta field again

Kai ‘Ehitu Canoe Club had another successful outing in Moko O Hawai‘i Outrigger Canoe Association’s sixth regatta of the 2024 season last weekend in Hilo. During Saturday’s outing, the club tallied 26 total medals and secured 12 gold — the most of any team competing. Kai ‘Ehitu also posted the most points of the day with 234.

Hawaiʻi County kicks off 49th Annual Kupuna Softball Tournament

HILO — The Department of Parks and Recreation’s Elderly Activities Division (EAD) kicked off the 49th Annual Hawai‘i Kupuna Softball Tournament on Wednesday, hosting 21 teams and over 400 players from around the County of Hawai‘i. The two-day tournament is being held at the Walter C. Victor Baseball Complex in Hilo.

U.S. women’s water polo, with an unlikely hype man, eyes Olympic history

Rapper Flavor Flav realizes it is an unexpected crossover. He once had only a vague awareness of water polo, from seeing Olympic matches on television. But he has a new appreciation for the sport, and the stamina required to play it, after recently signing a five-year sponsorship deal as the official hype man for the U.S. women’s and men’s national water polo teams.
