Tour of Hilo’s unique homes slated Dec. 15
The public can learn the stories behind Hilo’s historically significant and architecturally interesting homes and inns on a driving tour with anthropologist Judith Kirkendall and Leslie Lang, author of “Exploring Historic Hilo.” The tour, slated from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 15, begins and ends at the Lyman Museum. Call 935-5021 to register by Dec. 12.
Tickets are $50 for museum members; $65 for nonmembers. Admission includes lunch, bottled water and chauffeured transportation in the museum’s vans. For more information, visit lymanmuseum.org.
Free HIV tests offered on Tuesday, Dec. 18
Free 20-minute HIV testing is available from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday and again Dec. 18 at the West Hawaii Community Health Center in Kailua-Kona. For more information, call 331-8177.
Area woodturners meeting Saturday
The American Association of Woodturners West Hawaii chapter is meeting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the PacRim Tempering Building, 73-4260 Hulikoa Drive. New members of all skill levels and guests are welcome. Those attending should bring a chair and lunch.

Wreath class is Saturday in Waimea
Waimea Outdoor Circle will conduct a holiday wreath making class from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Waimea Nature Park. All instructions, wreath forms and materials are included. The fee to make a small wreath is $30 and a large is $40. Complimentary coffee and cookies will be offered.
