The 38-year-old receiver posted a message on his Twitter account shortly before 11 a.m. that he had been released, and the Seahawks made the move official in the afternoon.
“I’m no longer a Seahawk,” Owens tweeted. “I THANK the organization 4 the opportunity, I’m truly blessed beyond belief. My FAITH is intact & will NOT waiver.”
Owens wasn’t the only veteran to get cut by the Seahawks. Offensive linemen Deuce Lutui and Alex Barron both had their veteran contracts terminated, while Seattle waived defensive back Roy Lewis (knee), tight end Cameron Morrah (toe), defensive tackle Pep Levingston (knee) and linebacker Jamison Konz (shoulder).
Among Seattle’s other cuts to reach the 75-man limit were wide receiver Phil Bates, running back Tyrell Sutton, cornerbacks Ron Parker and Donny Lisowski and offensive lineman Edawn Coughman.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts have waived cornerback Chris Rucker and receiver Quan Cosby.
Rucker was Indy’s sixth-round draft choice in 2011. Cosby spent his first three NFL seasons with the Bengals and Denver and was claimed by the Colts off waivers late last season.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — The Chicago Bears placed rookie safety Brandon Hardin on injured reserve and also put wide receiver Johnny Knox on the physically unable to perform list on Sunday.
Hardin, the Bears’ third-round draft pick, injured his neck against Washington on Aug. 18.
Saints adjust schedule

METAIRIE, La. — With Tropical Storm Isaac forecast to hit the Gulf Coast as a hurricane this week, New Orleans interim coach Joe Vitt said Sunday the Saints had canceled practice and meetings Monday to allow players to evacuate their families.
Vitt added the Saints still planned to practice at their facility on Tuesday morning before flying early to Tennessee to prepare for their final preseason game on Thursday against the Titans.
Their contingency plan is to fly to Cincinnati today if needed and practice in Nashville on Tuesday.
Texans kicker Bullock out for the season
HOUSTON — Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak said rookie kicker Randy Bullock is out for the season after tearing a muscle near his groin.
Bullock, a fifth-round draft pick out of Texas A&M, was competing with veteran Shayne Graham.
Bullock was 3-for-4 on field goals, and Graham has gone 5-for-5 in the preseason.
Indianapolis adds Davis

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts may have plugged their biggest hole on defense by trading two undisclosed draft picks to Miami for cornerback Vontae Davis.
The Dolphins confirmed the move Sunday afternoon.
Ravens cut Cundiff,
keep rookie Tucker
BALTIMORE — Kicker Billy Cundiff was cut Sunday by the Baltimore Ravens, who decided to keep rookie Justin Tucker instead of the former Pro Bowl star.
Tucker went 5-for-5 on field goal tries during Baltimore’s first three preseason games and showed more leg strength than the 32-year-old Cundiff. Tucker made two field goals of 50 yards or longer; Cundiff was 1-for-6 last year from that distance.
