to Hilo Monday
Hilo-based military units will convoy from Pohakuloa Training Area to Keaukaha Military Reserve in Hilo between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday.
The convoys will travel via Saddle Road, Puainako Extension, Komohana Avenue, West Puainako Street, Kanoelehua Avenue and Hilo Airport Road.
They will have Hawaii Police Department escorts front and rear during their trip. Motorists are advised to be alert and drive with care.
The PTA Department of Army police is working closely with local authorities and military units to coordinate this activity in support of unit training.

Monday is Miss Billfish application deadline
The Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament is searching for its 2012 Miss Billfish. Each year, Miss Billfish plays a valuable role in the tournament — taking photos with teams and their catches and appearing at evening functions throughout the week. Miss Billfish must be available to the tournament from Aug. 9 through 19.
Interested young women must complete a two-page application and include two current photos — one head shot and one full-body with bathing suit or pareau. Monday is the application deadline.

Kamehameha Schools alumni invited to business showcase
Kamehameha Schools alumni, family and friends are invited to attend an Alumni Helping Alumni business showcase and meeting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the West Hawaii Civic Center’s Community Meeting Hale — Building G.
Alumni are invited to register for a presentation table to promote their business at the event’s trade show.
Mayor Billy Kenoi will address the group on the importance of small businesses to the island’s economy. A question-and-answer session and refreshments will follow the mayor’s talk.
“The AHA gives Kamehameha Schools alumni the opportunity to network and share information about their business,” said Sharon Goodman, president of the Kamehameha Schools Alumni Association, West Hawaii. “I encourage all alumni who are interested in networking and supporting small business in Hawaii to participate and attend.”

Farmers market being held on Saturdays
The Saturday farmers market at the Society for Kona’s Education and Art in Honaunau features locally grown and made products, including coffee, macadamia nuts, and arts and crafts.
The market is open from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday with plenty of free parking. Space is available for new vendors; call 938-5397.
The Society for Kona’s Education and Art is located on Mamalahoa Highway between mile markers 105 and 106.
