Forum to discuss theater closing
The Kahilu Theatre Foundation board will conduct a community forum from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. today in the theater’s auditorium. The board invites the community to join the conversation about the planned closure of the theater.
The meeting will begin with a brief presentation summarizing factors that contributed to the closure, followed by an open question-and-answer session.
Refreshments will be available in the lobby.

Vendors sought for Taste of the Range
Local food producers are invited to display and sample their product at the 17th annual Mealani’s Taste of the Hawaiian Range and Agricultural Festival slated from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village.
The Agriculture Festival provides a venue for food producers to present their products to participating chefs and attendees. It also features informational displays presented by agricultural and sustainability-themed organizations.

Taste of the Hawaiian Range features more than 30 chefs using various cuts of forage-fed meats and a cornucopia of island fruits, vegetables and other farm products. Additionally, James Babian, executive chef at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, leads a 3 p.m. culinary activity, “Grass Fed Beef Cooking 101.”

Tarawa Detachment meets Saturday
Camp Tarawa Detachment 1255 of the Marine Corps League meets Saturday at Banjy’s Paradise Bar and Grill at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course. The event begins with an 11:30 a.m. no-host lunch, followed by a 1 p.m. business meeting.
All serving, retired or reserve Marines and Navy corpsmen and their spouses are invited to attend. Dress is resort casual.

AdvoCATS to
meet Saturday
The public is invited to attend the AdvoCATS meeting from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Kona United Methodist Church on Palani Road.
The group will discuss its feral cat spay and neuter clinics slated for June 26 in Kailua-Kona and June 27 in Ocean View.
AdvoCATS plans to participate in the Independence Day Parade and is also collecting used ink cartridges, toners and cellphones for recycling. Call 329-4337 for details.
Attendees can get tattooed at the library
An airbrush tattoo program hosted by Allison Loando is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kailua-Kona Public Library. Participants at the event, part of the library’s Young Adult Summer Reading Program, will receive a free airbrush tattoo.
