Shazar leads painting, drawing workshop
Kona Community School for Adults is offering a painting and drawing workshop with Shazar from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning Wednesday in the Kealakehe High School art room.
Shazar will teach four-week sessions during June and July. Each four-week session costs $50.

Distance learning programs offered
An informational recruiting session for the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Shidler College of Business fall 2012 master’s in business administration and master’s in human resource management distance learning programs is slated from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The meeting will be held in Room A1 at Hawaii Community College at the University Center in West Hawaii in Kealakekua.
Representatives will discuss the programs and answer questions.
These classes will next be offered in West Hawaii in 2014. The deadline to register is July 1.

Candidate forum Thursday in Waimea
The Waimea Community Association’s first of two election-year nonpartisan candidate forums begins at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the Waimea School cafeteria.
The forum will spotlight the U.S. House of Representatives and County Council District 1 and District 9 races.
The audience will sit in clusters around the room. Each candidate will have four minutes to speak, then they will answer questions and talk story with each cluster of voters. Facilitators within the clusters will help keep things moving.
A second forum spotlighting the state Senate, state House and mayoral races is slated to begin at 5:15 July 12, also at the school.
Free snacks and coffee will be provided. Donations to a Waimea food pantry will be accepted at the events.
