SPECIAL TO WEST HAWAII TODAY
This year marks Holualoa Gallery’s 22nd year of doing business at its location in Holualoa next door to the post office. Artists/owners Matthew and Mary Lovein show their own artwork and a select group of other artists. The gallery first opened Jan. 1, 1990.
There is another anniversary celebration, for Matthew Lovein. It was Feb. 14, 20 years ago, that he woke MaryLovein in the night to tell her that he was going to make the Wish Keeper, which he had just seen in a dream. He was so inspired by the original design and concept, that he began creating the Wish Keeper and he has continued to make them for a diverse demographic of collectors around the world.
