North Hawaii Community Hospital received a zero deficiency audit in the hospital’s Nuclear Medicine Department, officials said Monday.
Gamma Corporation recently audited the department, looking at operations performance and records, with regards to the receipt, storage, usage and disposal of licensed radioactive materials. Auditors also looked at patient scheduling practices, radiopharmaceutical prescriptions and written directions to patients receiving radioactive material.
Hospital officials said nuclear medicine is a type of medical imaging using small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and determine the severity of or to treat a variety of diseases, including cancer, heart disease and gastrointestinal, endocrine, skeletal and neurological disorders.
Palamanui pays UH $9.68 million
Palamanui LLC will give the University of Hawaii a ceremonial check for $9.68 million today at the West Hawaii Civic Center.
The developer is paying the money to the university system for construction of the first stage of the Hawaii Community College campus within the Palamanui development. The campus has been in the planning stages for nearly a decade.
A check presentation ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m.
