Kona Brewing selected employer of the year
Kona Brewing Co. recently was presented the employer of the year award by the Rotary Club of Kona. Mattson Davis, Kona Brewing Co.’s president and CEO, accepted the award, which recognizes the company commitment to its community, employees and customers.
Kona Brewing Co. was recognized for its strong commitment to the community — each year it supports and participates in dozens of community fundraising events. The award also highlighted the company’s employee benefits and positive work environment, which has resulted in very low staff turnover through the years. Finally, it was commended for its customer satisfaction. Davis, a former Rotary Youth Exchange Student to Mexico in high school, was recognized for leading the business to become one of the most successful in the state.
The Rotary Club of Kona is made up of a group of business and professional leaders who take an active role in their communities while enriching their personal and professional lives. It was chartered as West Hawaii’s first Rotary Club in 1948.
Power and Gray earn EcoBroker designation
Tanya Power and Jean Gray, real estate agents at Windermere Island Properties LLC’s Kona office, recently received their Certified EcoBroker designation, the company has announced.
The Certified EcoBroker designation is given to licensed real estate professionals who complete a training program about the environmental aspects of homes, in order to help clients make home-buying decisions from an environmentally-based perspective.
These aspects include overall energy efficiency, heating and cooling, building materials, solar technologies, sustainable design, landscaping, mortgage financing, tax incentives, “green” home certification and others. The training encompasses both existing homes and new construction.
With the knowledge they gain from the EcoBroker on-line training courses, agents are able to provide information about and help buyers take advantage of the growing movement toward cost-saving “green” features and energy efficiency in residences.
