The Kealakehe Elementary School library will soon get air conditioning, and other Big Island schools will see other maintenance projects begin, after Gov. Neil Abercrombie released $14.2 million for capital improvement projects.
State legislators previously identified and appropriated the money for these projects.
The Kealakehe project was part of a $3 million release, the governor’s office said. The state will spend $5 million on Americans with Disabilities Act compliance upgrades at a number of schools, including Kohala High School and Kohala Elementary School.
