Terry Teruko Lee Loy, 84, of Hilo, died Jan. 6 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Gallup, N.M., she was the retired director for the Hawaii Island YWCA, retired teacher and member of Community of Christ, Lower Kawailani Kumiai and the University of Arizona Alumni Association.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Jan. 13 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. service. Burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Famiy requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by sons, Henry (Pauline Keala) Lee Loy and Leslie (Taryn) Lee Loy, both of Hilo; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard “Rick” Lee Wagner, 57, of Keaau, formerly of Honolulu, died Dec. 28 at his residence. Born in Indiana, he was a construction foreman.

Phyllis Gocke
Phyllis Schleiger Gocke, 89, of Waimea, died Dec. 31 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born May 29, 1922, in Fon du Lac, Wis., she was a retired advertising executive and sales manager for Honolulu Magazine, member of St. James Episcopal Church in Waimea and volunteer with many community service organizations.

Haruo Yamashita
Haruo Yamashita, 93, of Honolulu, formerly of Hilo, died Jan. 3 at Maunalani Nursing Center on Oahu. Born in Glenwood, he retired as a produce farmer, served in the Army 100th Infantry Battalion in World War II and was a member of Kurtistown Jodo Mission.

Nathan Kaehukai Pulham, 33, of Los Angeles, died Dec. 24 at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital in Hollywood, Calif. Born March 24, 1978, in Pahala, Ka’u, he worked in the health care services industry.

Tadao Sugai, 86, of Honalo, died Jan. 5 at his residence. Born Nov. 9, 1925, in Honalo, he was a mason, macadamia nut and coffee farmer, member of Honalo Kumiai, Daifukuji Soto Mission, Nigata Kenjin Kai, Kona Young Farmers and Farm Bureau of Kona.

Masakazu “Masa” Uemura, 88, of Honaunau, died Jan. 5 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Jan. 1, 1924, in Keei, he was a retired maintenance supervisor at Kona Village Resort, worker at Kitaoka Construction and Yamamoto Contractor, stone mason for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, member of Honaunau Kumiai No. 1 and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keei Ward.

Eugene “Gene” Pierce, 55, of Kailua-Kona, died Jan. 5 at his residence. Born Feb. 2, 1956, in Fort Knox, Ky., he was an electrician for NELHA, member of Kona Elks Lodge No. 2616, California Elks Lodge, IBEW Local 100, Veterans of Foreign Wars 5057 and a Navy veteran.

Takeo “Take” Nakayama, 90, of Mountain View, died Dec. 13 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Mountain View, he was a retired controller for the Hawaii County Finance Department, formerly worked at Suisan, member of Taishoji Soto Mission and a veteran of the Army, Company B, 100th Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team.
Private services were held. Famiy requests no flowers or monetary gifts.
He is survived by wife, Chieko Nakayama, of Mountain View; son, Curtis (Suzanne) Nakayama, of Mountain View; daughter, Eunice Nakayama, of Mountain View; brother, Mitsuo (Betsy) Nakayama, of Honolulu; sister, Shizuno Sadanaga, of Papaikou; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
