HONOKAA — Through another in a series of generous financial grants, an AlohaCare grant for $39,000 was awarded to Hamakua-Kohala Health Aug. 9 to help them continue to provide quality, affordable health care to North East Hawaii.
Founded by Community Health Centers, the nonprofit AlohaCare is committed to improving the health of Hawaii’s communities in many ways; including helping health centers find doctors.
“It is more difficult to get doctors to practice in rural areas. With these much-needed funds, Hamakua-Kohala Health will be able to hire more doctors, nurses and dentists to serve our patients’ needs,” said Irene Carpenter, CEO of Hamakua-Kohala Health, said in a prepared statement. “We are extremely grateful for the help of AlohaCare insurance so we can provide greatly needed medical help in our community.”
Simply put, it is because of grants like these that many community health centers are able to keep their doors open. Most would not be able to provide needed services without partnerships like the one between Hamakua-Kohala Health and AlohaCare.
