KAILUA-KONA — A Hilo man is facing terroristic threatening and property damage charges after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into his ex-girlfriend’s car in Kailua-Kona.
On Thursday, the Hawaii Police Department asked for the public’s assistance in finding 25-year-old Dylan Naope. He had been reported missing but was also wanted on a warrant.
Police also wanted to speak with Naope about an incident that occurred Wednesday morning on Ane Keohokalole Highway, said Hawaii Police Department Area II Major Robert Wagner. At about 7:15 a.m., Naope allegedly was involved in a car crash with his ex-girlfriend.
The 27-year-old woman was traveling south with a man and two children in her vehicle when Naope, who was traveling north, entered into their lane, Wagner said. The ex-girlfriend attempted to avoid a crash but the vehicles were involved in a sideswipe-type collision.
Naope left the scene after the crash. No injuries were reported.
After turning himself in, Naope was transferred to the Kona police cellblock. He was charged with first-degree criminal property damage and four counts of first-degree terroristic threatening.
The 25-year-old is expected to appear in court Monday. Bail is set at $13,500.
