WAIKOLOA — Hilton Waikoloa Village has been recognized for implementing energy efficient practices throughout the property by the U.S. Dept. of Energy for successfully meeting ISO 50001 and Superior Energy Performance program standards, while improving energy performance by 13.5 percent over three years.
The hotel is one of only six in the country with a SEP certification, all within the Hilton portfolio.
Hilton Waikoloa Village programs include HI-5 beverage container recycling, bailing press cardboard recovery and energy-saving measures that eliminate 15 percent in electricity usage to creative food waste programs where clean and reliable food sources — over 30 tons per month — are provided, while reducing wet waste into trash compactors and a partnership with a local biodiesel organization, helping recycle 500-750 gallons of cooking oil monthly.
