Hospital cancer support group meets
The Kona Community Hospital Cancer Support Group meets from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday in the hospital’s Administration Building in the first floor conference room 2.
This community-based support group helps patients cope with the emotional aspects of cancer by providing a safe place to share feelings and challenges. Attendees learn from others facing similar situations and from professional facilitators who are able to provide cancer related information and education.

Camp Tarawa Detachment meeting planned
The Camp Tarawa Detachment No. 1255 MCL invites all Marines, Navy Corpsmen, active, reserve, retired, and their spouses to a monthly meeting.
Talk-story and a no-host lunch Dec. 17 at Mai Grille at the Waikoloa Beach Golf Course. The business meeting begins at 1 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring a donation for the Food Bank. Dress is resort casual.
Brain Injury Support group meets
The Brain Injury Support group meets from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawaiian Rehab Services just mauka of Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union on Hualalai Road.
It will be general support group meeting as no speaker has been scheduled.
Invited are all brain injury, stroke or other neuro-trauma survivors, their families and caregivers, interested professionals and the public.

Mindfulness seminars planned
Rev. David Fujimoto of Mililani Hongwanji Temple on Oahu will present a series of free seminars in mindfulness. Fujimoto is known to push institutional boundaries and to engage audience interaction so that participants are part of the teaching process.
Mindfulness events are planned Dec. 14 at Kona Hongwanji, Dec. 15 at Papaikou Hongwanji and Dec. 16 at Kamuela Hongwanji. All presentations start at 6 p.m., with question and answer period, potluck refreshments and fellowship to follow. All members of the community are encouraged to come and learn, regardless of faith or spiritual background.
The programs are free and sponsored by the Commission on Buddhist Education, Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii.
