Kona Honu Divers’ free “1-Year-Under-New-Ownership” celebration is planned from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Kona Honu Divers shop 74-5583 Luhia St. Suite A-12.
Festivities include a dunk tank, artist booths, barbecue and raffle prizes. Bring keiki and prepare to get wet. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Malama Kai Foundation, a nonprofit helps conserve Hawaii’s coastal and marine resources. Donations will be accepted for the organization.
“It’s a family-fun day with a focus on preserving our oceans,” said Byron Kay, owner of Kona Honu Divers. “Many of the booths, such as Ke Kai Ola (a monk seal hospital), Manta Ray Advocates, Surfrider, and others support preserving, conserving, sustaining and educating the public on ocean life,” he said.
Visitors can talk story with scuba and freediving pros, view underwater artists’ photographs. New and used dive gear will be for sale.
