HONOLULU (AP) — University of Hawaii’s president is looking to expand his duties to become chancellor of the university’s Manoa campus, a position that hasn’t been permanently filled for two years.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports President David Lassner said in a Thursday email to university staff and students he will recommend himself as an interim appointment at next week’s board of regents meeting. He’s seeking a Sept. 1 start date with no additional compensation.
Robert Bley-Vroman ends his interim term as chancellor this month after being approved for the position in August 2014. He had been replaced Tom Apple, who was dismissed by Lassner.
Lassner acknowledged concerns about him holding two positions, and says he remains committed to finding a permanent replacement.
