Gladys Kawaha
Gladys Etrulia Kawaha, 76, of Hilo died July 12, 2016, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born Oct. 27, 1939, in Seattle, she was a Social Services Aide for the state of Hawaii and a member of the Haili Congregational Church.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 20 at the Haili Congregational Church in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Casual attire is requested. Flowers and lei are welcomed.
She is survived by husband, Samuel Kawaha of Hilo; sons, Michael Kawaha, Daniel Kawaha, both of Hilo; three grandchildren; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

William Kurashige Sr.
William “Bully” Christoper Kurashige Sr., 77, of Captain Cook died Aug. 1, 2016, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Dec, 23, 1938, in Kealakekua, he was a heavy equipment mechanic, a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3. He was an Air Force veteran.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. Aug. 20 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kailua-Kona for a 10 a.m. funeral service with burial to follow in All Saints Cemetery in Honaunau. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.
He is survived by wife, Virginia Kurashige of Honaunau; daughter, Beverly (Lisiate) Apina of Kailua-Kona; son, William Kurashige Jr., of Honaunau; sisters, Alvine (Leroy) Victorine of Hilo, Dayne (Smokey) Snell and Yvonne Hurley, all of Captain Cook, Tiny (Billy) Paulos of Montana; brother, Jesse Valera of Kealakekua; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Daisy C. Luke, 82, of Hawi died July 26, 2016, in Walnut Creek, Calif. Born April 25, 1934, in Kohala, she was a business owner and member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kapaau.

Sumiko Manliguis, 73, of Hilo died July 17, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 25, 1943, in Poston, Ariz., she was a homemaker.

She is survived by sons, Sean Manliguis, Lance (Beryl) Manliguis, both of Hilo; daughter, Laureen Manliguis of Honolulu; sister, Setsuko (Thomas) Wong of Honolulu; two grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Arthur “Gigi” Pallagi Jr. 59, of Hilo died Aug. 4, 2016, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 21, 1956, in Guam, he was a commercial fisherman.
