KAILUA-KONA — Highway 190 was closed for about an hour Thursday afternoon as firefighters worked to extinguish a brush fire near mile marker 15.
Firefighters were still on the scene as of press time Thursday and an estimate on the size of the fire was not immediately available. It was declared out, however, crews were performing mop-up operations. One lane of the highway had reopened about 5 p.m.
