Big Island junior swing team
Players ages 10-17 are invited to train to play golf with Coach Laurie Hillyard, an LPGA teaching professional, at the Big Island Country club every Tuesday and Thursday from June 7 to July 28. Sessions run from 12:30-5:30 p.m. and cost is $75 per session with 2-6 players max.
Players must know the basics of the game, have proper fitted clubs and be able to walk nine holes. Each session combines golf specific fitness, swing skill development and challenging drills with a two-hour coach on course playing experience.

First Tee program
First Tee is currently taking enrollment for Summer fun.
The top three reasons young people like being in the First Tee program include: Building relationships, improving golf skills and having fun.
Summer Camp at Waikoloa Village Golf Course, Kona Country Club and Kamehameha Park.

Krispy Cream Donut Dash
The Krispy Kreme Donut Dash, sponsoring by Kuleana Education, will take place on June 4. The event starts at 8 a.m. just below Kealakehe High School at the intersection of Ane Keohokaloke and Puohulihuli and will cost $20.
There will be a 5K Donut Dash run/walk as well as a half mile keiki dash with an entry fee of $10. Awards will be given.
Hapuna Roughwater Swim
The Hapuna Roughwater swim will take place on June 18 at 8 a.m. To register for the 1-mile race, go to FLPregister.com/178. There is discounted pricing for early sign-up.
There will be a 400-meter keiki swim race, followed by main event. T-shirts with sign-up guaranteed through June 4 registration. Water patrol volunteers are still needed. Contact Ed Doherty with any questions at Eddoherty1@me.com.
King’s Swim
Kona Aquatics will be hosting the 22nd Annual King’s Swim — a 1.2-mile course which begins at Kailua Bay and ends at Kamakahonu Bay, directly in front of King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel on July 4 at 8 a.m. No wetsuits or fins permitted; only USA Swimming approved suits permitted.
Applications are available at Bikeworks. A non-refundable entry fee of $15 must accompany the application. Registration deadline is June 27. Late registration is at Kailua Pier on race day from 6:30-7:30 a.m. at $20 per entry.
Volunteers with kayaks, surfboards, or stand-up paddle boards wishing to join our safely patrol are welcome; please report to the pier before 7:30 a.m. For more information call Steve Borowski at 334-0083.
Keiki Summer Tennis/Sports Camp
The Hilton Waikoloa will host a tennis/sports camp throughout the summer for young players ages 6-16.
Camps will take place June 6-10, 13-17, 20-24, June 27-July 1, July 11-15, 18-22 and 25-29. Camps, which will accept all skill levels from beginners to junior competition level, will go Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The camp will also included swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and mini-golf.

Mega Sports Camp
Mega Sports camp will take place June 20-24 at Ho’oko Park from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Mega Sports Camp is a faith-based weeklong camp that will focus on instruction and character building in basketball, soccer, cheer, dance and baseball.

Emily T Gail Show
Emily has conversations with Chris Keiter, Nanea Assistant Pro, who talks about being a medalist and first qualifier with the best competitive round of his career with a 69 at the local USGA Open Qualifying at Hokulia. Runner-up and second qualifier with a 71, Hunter Larson, who is an Assistant Pro at Kohanaiki, shares some stories about his junior golf days and finding a career in golf. Dalen Yamauchi, first alternate with 72, talks about having played for University of Hawaii-Hilo.
Also a guest is Titan Oshura, who at 14 years old was the youngest to play in the USGA Open qualifier at Hokulia. Hokuli’a Head PGA Pro Darren Sayre, and HSJGA’s Mary Bea Porter King, who organized the qualifying round, talk about the importance of the US Open qualifying being on the Big Island.
Emily talks about Bob May, who was Tiger Woods’ hero when he was growing up. May will be headquartered at Waikoloa Beach & Kings’ Course in June offering private and group lessons.
