Family situation not as described
I am writing in response to your May 3 article “Family puzzled over death.” I have known Jonathon’s parents since the early 1970s when Noel “Lucky” Watson owned a record and tape shop in Kailua-Kona called Kahakai Music Co.
I do agree Jonathon was generous, funny and hard-working. He was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. There is no doubt his parents are in shock and grieving.
While the family awaits answers from the police, friends are stunned by the misleading comments made by the Watsons in this article. Like the statement by Laurie Watson, “He (Jonathon) lived with us for years.” Not true. The only time Jonathon lived with his father Lucky and girlfriend Laurie (Watson) Thrasher was for around six months. The living situation turned into a disaster resulting in Jonathon being removed from his father’s home.
This was not the “happy family” as described by the Watsons in the article. It was a relationship of little normalcy.
The choices we make in life are ours. But to publicly mislead others to believe a falsehood is wrong. Those of us who know the truth cannot just sit by and remain silent. That would be equally wrong.

Thankful to Kona
I hope this letter isn’t seen as if it comes from a man with an inflated sense of importance. I want to express gratitude as my family departs from Kona. Our family has been blessed with a year of growth with the Lord in Kona.
I appreciate the opportunity Club Rehab Physical Therapy and my patients gave me to serve this community and experience a beautiful culture.
We also are so grateful for Grace Kona and Big Island Baptist Church for helping our family see the dominion of Jesus Christ, despite circumstances. Most of our time was spent with the ohana at Big Island Baptist. They are a wonderful local church and are passionate about this community and truly represent the power and love of Christ.
Our children have made great friends and our daughter has thrived with loving guidance at Sonshine Preschool and both of our children with the children’s program at church. The teachers there love the Lord and those children incredibly. I am so thankful for this season and have loved and appreciated so many, as love within our family has grown.
A hui hou!

Suit looks strong
Wow! What a way to start your day.
The counter suit appears to hold a lot more weight than the BIDR suit. I have personally known aunty Donna and Dr. Jose for over 20 years.
I am not taking sides, but it does not make any sense that people who work in the field of veterinary medicine and animal rescue would have nefarious intentions. It will all come out in the wash.
Best wishes to HIHS and Alii Vet. You won’t need luck, just the truth will prevail.
