Lea Kaahaaina, education and outreach specialist for the DLNR’s Alala Project, will discuss how the alala has been brought back from the brink of extinction during a Lyman Museum Saigo Public Lecture Series program Monday in Hilo.
Kaahaaina’s presentation “Alala: Restoring Hawaii’s Native Crow to the Wild,” from 7-8:30 p.m., will further describe the breeding and conservation efforts taken by the project to protect the Native Hawaiian crow. Plans for its return to Hawaiian forest habitat this fall will also be touched on.
The presentation is free for museum members; for nonmembers is $3.
