Alternating lane closures on Umauma Bridge in the vicinity of Hakalau on Highway 19 remain in effect in both directions over a 24-hour period, seven days a week for bridge rehabilitation.
The state Department of Transportation said travel speed on the bridge is reduced to 20 mph, and vehicles that exceed statutory size-weight limits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis upon application of their respective oversize-overweight vehicle permits. Maximum width for any vehicle with permit passing over the bridge is 12 feet.
Alternating lane closures are also in effect on Highway 19 in both directions between Jardine Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway in the vicinity of Kaawalii Gulch 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for roadway improvements.
Alternating lane closures are also in effect on the highway in both directions between Jardine Road and Puualaea Homestead Road in the vicinity of Laupahoehoe Gulch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for roadway improvements.
Alternating lane closures are also in effect on Highway 19 in both directions between Kulaimano and Kauniho roads in the vicinity of Pepeekeo to Hakalau Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for roadway improvements.
A 24-hour detour on the Keaau-Pahoa Bypass Road also continues in both directions between Pahoa Market Place and Kahakai Boulevard. The detour will remain in effect until May for the construction of the Pahoa Roundabout. Temporary traffic signals have been installed to direct traffic at the Kahakai Boulevard/Pahoa Village Road intersection.
