A 43-year-old man is in police custody in conection with an early morning shooting in Hilo last month.
Hawaii Police Department detectives arrested Hilo resident John Perez at 10:13 a.m. Tuesday on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder, according to police. He remains in the Hilo police cellblock while detectives continue the investigation.
Police are seeking individuals who may have witnessed the shooting in the Honolii lookout area shortly before 4:35 a.m. on Jan. 31.
