A wind advisory has been posted for the Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea summits through 6 a.m. Thursday.
West winds of 30 to 45 mph with localized gusts reaching 65 mph are forest for areas above 8,000 feet in elevation, according to the National Weather Service.
The service cautioned motorists with high-profile vehicles to drive with caution. The Mauna Kea access road remained open as of 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Mauna Kea Weather Center.
