Girl Scouts of Hawaii kick off cookie season on Friday with scouts across the islands selling at booths, door-to-door and through Digital Cookie, the first national digital platform that enables girls to sell cookies.
Troop 2028 will sell cookies at several Kailua-Kona locations. Cookies will be sold on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Walmart and from noon to 3 p.m. at Safeway. Cookies will also be available from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 28 at KTA in Kona Coast Shopping Center. In March, cookies will be sold from 9 a.m. to noon March 5 at KTA in Kona Coast Shopping Center, from 9 a.m. to noon March 12 at Safeway, from noon to 3 p.m. March 13 at Safeway, from 9 a.m. to noon March 19 at Long’s Drugs in Keauhou Shopping Center, from noon to 2 p.m. March 20 at Sack N Save and from noon to 3 p.m. March 26 at Safeway.
Through selling cookies, girls learn important life lessons while gaining confidence. One hundred percent of the net revenue raised through sales stays with the Girl Scouts of Hawaii and its troops.

Avocado festival coming up
The 10th annual Avocado Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay.
Live entertainment including hula will be offered throughout the day.
Avocado presentations include grafting with Ty McDonald, a panel discussion with Ken Love and John Yanemoto, an avocado food demonstration by Executive Chef Stephen Rouelle from Under the Bodhi Tree, avocado variety sampling, and avocado nutritional components by University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Food will be sold.
Open house and grand opening at Palamanui
Hawaii Community College at Palamanui will host an open house and grand opening celebration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the new campus in North Kona.
Events will include live performances by award-winning musician and singer Robi Kahakalau, Hawaii-based reggae band The Steppas, contemporary Hawaiian musicians the Keawe Trio and Polynesian cultural group Te Ea o Te Turama.
The event will also feature a cooking demonstration by the college’s Culinary Arts program, with samples and light refreshments to be provided. In addition, there will be campus tours, exhibits from academic programs and community partners and student performances.
