SBA award nominations sought
Nominations for SBA Small Business Awards for 2016 are due at the Hawaii District office on Friday.
For 2016 SBA Small Business Award categories for the Hawaii District include: SBA’s Small Business Person of the Year, Entrepreneurial Success Award, Family-Owned Small Business of the Year, Small Business Exporter of the Year, SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year and SBA Small Business Advocate of the Year.
While any individual or organization may submit a nomination for an SBA Small Business Award, the federal agency works closely with financial institutions and Chamber of Commerce networks across the state to promote and recognize outstanding accomplishments of the small business community. The required nomination forms with detailed information on the nominees are available at www.hisbdc.org or by contacting the Hawaii District office. Completed forms should be submitted to the SBA District Office, 500 Ala Moana Blvd., Suite 1-306, no later than Friday.

Book sale slated at
Kailua-Kona Library
The Friends of the Libraries, Kona will hold its next book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday on the Kailua-Kona Public Library lanai. Proceeds from sales help support the needs of the Kona libraries.
This is the final sale of all DVDs, priced to sell at 25 cents each. Stocking stuffer items for Christmas will be available: gift certificates, coupons, posters, tote bags, visors and art work.
Volunteers are welcome and book donations are accepted at the library.

Free flexibility class offered Sunday
A free flexibility class will be offered for those age 45 and older from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Island Spirit Healing Center and Day Spa in Pualani Terrace, 81-6587 Mamalahoa Highway, Kealakekua.
Sarah Lynn Joy will describe ways to relax, move freely, reduce pain, facilitate injury recovery and reduce stress. In a small group setting, experiential activities and hands-on mini-sessions will be shared.

Kona hospital auxiliary meets
The Kona Community Hospital Auxiliary has moved up its monthly board meeting to 1230 p.m. Monday in the hospital conference room. Visitors are welcome and attendees will learn more about the Jan. 16 general meeting.
Also, the auxiliary holds a bake sale that is open to all from 7 to 9 a.m. Fridays in the hospital cafeteria.

Hospice plans bereavement groups
