KEAHUOU — The Kona Coffee Festival held the Miss Kona Coffee and Miss Aloha Hawaii Scholarship Pageant Saturday night at the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay. Miss Kona Coffee 2016, Polanimakamae Kahakalau was crowned by outgoing winner Ariel Enriquez in the pageant which included swimsuit, talent, evening wear and on-stage question categories. Asked how she felt after just being crowned, Kahakalau responded “I am mind-blown! I’m just so happy to be chosen.” Kahakalau’s talent was dancing hula.
Miss Aloha Hawaii 2016 Kirstie Naone was crowned by 2015 winner Keahi Delovio. Naone’s talent was Tahitian dance.
As Miss Kona Coffee 2016, Kahakalau receives a $1,500 cash scholarship, a $10,000 tuition scholarship to Argosy University and a trip to Japan to represent Kona Coffee among other prizes from local businesses.
