National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu have issued a high surf advisory for the island’s west-facing shores until 6 p.m. Monday.
The service forecast waves ranging in height from 6 to 10 feet along west-facing shores of the Kona and Kohala coasts.
The service categorized the surf’s impact as “moderate.” The public is advised to expect strong breaking waves, shore break and longshore and rip currents that make swimming difficult and dangerous.
Swimmers and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials, forecasters said.
