The National Alliance of the Mentally Ill will hold its regular support meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Paradise Clubhouse at 77-6435 Kuakini Highway by the Sunquest sign on the mauka side of the highway. Those coming from the north should turn left on Nalani Street by La Bourgogne French restaurant and circle back to Kuakini Highway for access.

American Association of University
Women meets
The Shape the Future campaign will share the spotlight at the next meeting of the American Association of University Women at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at West Hawaii Civic Center, Building G. This campaign offers a reduction in dues to new members joining at the meeting.
Members, guests and those interested in joining AAUW are welcome to attend.
There will be a general meeting followed by guest speaker Karen Rose, executive director of Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii. She will discuss how the organization helps visitors in distress and present volunteer opportunities.

Cancer support group meets
A cancer support group meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Teshima’s restaurant in Honalo. People newly diagnosed with cancer and cancer survivors are welcome, as well as interested caregivers and family members.
The group meets to share cancer related issues and to lend support to one another. Women are encouraged to learn about breast cancer risks and early detection to help make informed decisions with their doctors about breast health.

Author to discuss feng shui in Naalehu
Author Clear Englebert will present “Feng Shui for Love &Money” from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Naalehu Library.
Englebert is a nationally recognized feng shui expert and the author of six books, which are available in five languages. A portion of the book sales at the event will benefit the Naalehu Friends of the Library.

Families encouraged to take advantage
of school
breakfast program
The Hawaii State Department of Education is encouraging parents and guardians to participate in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s School Breakfast Program to help students start the day off better prepared for learning. All 256 of Hawaii’s public schools participate in the breakfast program.
The cost for school breakfast is $1.10 for grades kindergarten through eight and $1.20 for grades nine through 12. School lunch, which is also offered, costs $2.50 for grades kindergarten through eight and $2.75 for grades nine through 12.
The Department’s School Food Services Branch has a website that will provide families with the option to submit applications for free and reduced-price meal benefits. Schools will continue to forward eligibility notifications to households.
