Hawaii Island police have charged a man in connection with a burglary in Hilo late last year or early this year.
Sometime between Dec. 27 and Jan. 9, a house on Komohana Street was broken into and a laptop computer and jewelry were removed, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
Investigation led to the identity of the suspect as 23-year-old Michael Kenui of Hilo. He was arrested Monday evening and taken to the Hilo police cellblock while the Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.
At 4 p.m. Tuesday, Kenui was charged with first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree theft and contempt of court. His bail was set at $9,750. He remains at the cellblock pending his initial court appearance scheduled for today.
