On Nov. 13 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hilo High School’s cheerleading team achieved an impressive second-place finish in the COED division of the 2024 Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) Cheerleading Championships.
On Nov. 13 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hilo High School’s cheerleading team achieved an impressive second-place finish in the COED division of the 2024 Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) Cheerleading Championships.
The accomplishment marked the first time Hilo High’s cheer team has brought home a state trophy. The championship title in the COED division was claimed by Radford High School, who scored 45.650 points. The Vikings tallied 41.933 points, and third-place finisher PAC-5 scored 40.450. There were seven total teams in the division, as Hilo was the only BIIF competitor of this particular field.
The championship title in the all-girls division was claimed by Iolani, who collected a final score of 44.917. There were 10 teams in this division, which included Waiakea High and Kealakehe High. The Warriors placed eighth with a 36.750 final score, while the Waveriders placed 10th (35.917).
