MLS breaks attendance record with more than 11 million fans
Major League Soccer has surpassed 11 million fans to break the league’s regular season attendance record.
With 16 regular-season matches remaining, MLS already has eclipsed the mark of 10,900,804 set last season.
Announcing the record on Monday, the league credited the recent arrivals of such international superstars as Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi and the creation of “more unique, fan-friendly ticket packages” as the key drivers of the continued growth.
The league is currently averaging 23,240 fans per game.
Caitlin Clark to play in pro-am at LPGA’s The Annika
Fresh off being named the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year, Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark will turn her attention to golf, at least for a day in November.
Clark, whose affinity for golf is well known, will participate in the pro-am competition at The Annika driven by Gainbridge on Nov. 13 at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla.
Jets: QB Aaron Rodgers (ankle) ‘fine’ for Week 6
New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Monday that quarterback Aaron Rodgers is dealing with a low ankle sprain but that all indications are he should be “fine” for next week’s game.
Rodgers sustained the injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London. The four-time league MVP said after the game he was “definitely banged up” and dealing with the sprained ankle, an injury Saleh confirmed to reporters on Monday.
