Kohala softball’s season ended after falling to No. 1-seeded Kapaa 23-4 in five innings in the Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) Division II quarterfinals on Thursday at Moanalua High School. The two teams resumed play after a rain delay postponed their outing on Wednesday night.

Shortstop Sienna Yamashita and second baseman Rhea Furtado combined for eight hits to lead the Warriors, including two doubles and a triple from Yamashita.
Karlee-Rose Keale was Kapaa’s sole pitcher in the circle, going all five innings and striking out eight. Kalia Marquez was Kohala’s main pitcher, going four innings.
The Cowgirls finished 2024 with a second-place finish in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation’s Division II. The Warriors will face No. 4 Aiea in the semifinals at 10 a.m. today at Pearl City High School. The championship will follow at 4:30 at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
KSH to resume play today
No. 3 Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i baseball will resume its DII state semifinal matchup against No. 2 Kauai at 10 a.m. this morning at Les Murakami Stadium. Play will pick back up in the bottom of the third inning with the Warriors leading 6-0.
The game was initially rained out Thursday.
