A judge maintained bail at $718,500 for a 45-year-old Mountain View man police say was in possession of a wide variety of dangerous drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine, and several firearms — two of which are unserialized “ghost guns.”
Hilo District Judge Jeffrey Hawk also ordered Shaun Jeremy Coffer to return to court Wednes-day for a preliminary hearing.
Coffer is charged with: six counts of first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug; two counts each of second- and third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and first-degree promotion of a harmful drug; four counts of fourth-degree promotion of a harmful drug; first-degree promotion of a detrimental drug; plus two counts each of prohibited possession of a firearm, unregistered firearms, and unserialized firearms; and possession of a firearm with intent to commit a felony drug offense.
According to police, on May 1, East Hawaii Vice Section officers executed a search warrant on Coffer’s Hawaiian Acres subdivision residence.
Police say they recovered during the search, 132 fentanyl pills, nine fentanyl patches, 9.34 grams of rock-like fentanyl, 42 grams of methamphetamine, 29.66 grams of cocaine, 20 squares of LSD, four bottles of morphine, 82.8 grams of marijuana, plus illegal anabolic steroids including testosterone cypionate, winstrol, anavar, durateston, sostenon and trenbolone.
Also confiscated were three AR15 style rifles — one of which was unserialized, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun” with an illegal barrel — an AA Arms assault pistol, an unserialized Glock-style semi-automatic pistol, a Kimber 1911 pistol, and two additional rifles.
Additionally, Vice officers seized about $100,000 in cash and other assets for administrative forfeiture, police said.
The most serious charges, first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of a firearm with intent to commit a felony drug offense are Class A felony charges that carry a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment, upon conviction.
Coffer remains in custody at Hawaii Community Correctional Center.
