Tommy “Kahikina” Ching is on the road again for his Feed-A Thon benefiting The Food Basket.
The annual event started on Monday with a goal to raise $50,000, or 1 million pounds of food to supplement The Food Basket’s mission.
The drive, now in its 23nd year, continues today and Thursday at KTA Puainako and Friday at KTA Keauhou from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in hopes of stocking Hawaii Island’s only food bank with enough food to feed the island’s most vulnerable citizens.
This year, Ching will be selling his “Kahikina and the Kapahheads cookbook for $20 with all proceeds going to the Food Basket.
“We are thrilled to be in the midst of our 23rd annual Feed-a-Thon with our longtime anti-hunger heroes Tommy “Kahikina” Ching and KTA Superstores,” said Food Basket Executive Director Kristin Frost Albrecht. “We are incredibly grateful to both of them along with all of our donors who are lending a helping hand to our island families, friends and neighbors in need.”
As of press time Tuesday, Ching has raised $21,000 for the island’s food bank.
