Alice (Ah Choy) De Luz, 93, of Paauilo, died on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at home. She was born on November 13, 1929 in North Hilo, Hawaii. She was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Visitation will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday (July 22, 2023) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Honokaa; Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.; burial to follow at Kalopa Catholic Cemetery. Survived by, daughters, Beverly (Garrett) Hiraoka of Kapulena and Stephanie Ahuna of Paauilo; daughter-in-law, Diane De Luz of Hilo; brother, Ernest (Annie Mae) Ah Choy of Oahu; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Carter Spencer
Carter Lee Konohia Spencer, 60, of Pahoa, died June 25 at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu and was a construction laborer and a member of the Local 368 Laborer’s Union.Visitation 9-10 a.m. Friday (July 21) at the New Hope Church Hilo, 840 Kupulau Road. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Cremation will follow. Casual attire. Patrick Aiona
Patrick Gabriel Aiona, Sr., age 71, of Hilo, Hawaii, passed away on July 8, 2023 in the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hilo, Hawaii on March 17, 1952 and was the President of Aiona Car Sales in Hilo. He was a member of the Hawaii Automobile Dealers Association (H.A.D.A.), Rotary Club of South Hilo, Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce, Piihonua Homestead Community Association, Young Men’s Institute (Y.M.I.) and multiple Catholic Churches in East Hawaii. Visitation will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo, Hawaii on July 21, 2023 (Friday) from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Casual attire is requested.
