HCCN and AARP Hawaii Host April 12 Caregiver Workshop
Free Event Connects Caregiver to Caregiver to Resources
Local nonprofit Hawaii Community Caregiver Network (HCCN) and AARP Hawaii are co-sponsoring a free breakfast workshop for family caregivers on Wednesday, April 12 from 9:30 am to noon at the Royal Kona Resort.
Keynote speaker is AARP Hawaii State Director Kealii Lopez, herself a caregiver. Local experts will also address legal concerns for elders, levels of clinical care, and respite care. “When you’re in the midst of caregiving a loved one, there’s often no time to think about caring for yourself,” said Judy Bell, HCCN co-founder. “This Caregiver to Caregiver Workshop will allow caregivers to make connections with each other as well as with resources in the community to help navigate the journey they are sharing with their loved one.”
Advance registration is required for this event as participation is limited to 50 attendees. To register, please visit www.hawaiicaregivers.org or call toll free (877) 926-8300 by April 5. A resource fair of more than fifteen agencies will be open during sign-in, starting at 8:30 a..m., and also after the workshop. Free validated parking is available.
