Estate planning seminar planned
Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union hosts a free educational seminar on “Trusts and Estate Planning” to be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the John Y. Iwane Credit Union Center training room at its Kaloko facility.
The seminar will be presented by estate planning attorney Ethan Okura of Okura &Associates. Okura received his doctor of jurisprudence degree from Columbia University School of Law in New York as a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar and received the Parker School Certificate of Achievement in International and Comparative Law. He is a member of the Probate and Elder Law Sections of the Hawaii Bar, has served on the executive board of the Elder Law Section, and is admitted to practice both in New York and Hawaii.
The seminar will cover topics that include estate planning issues such as probate, conservatorship, estate taxes, nursing home costs, and asset protection; what is a trust?; the different types of trusts; and answers to estate planning questions.

The public is invited to join Kahaluu Bay Education Center turtle biologist Rachel Silverman in a “talk story” about honu (Hawaiian green sea turtles) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Kahaluu Beach Park’s large pavilion. Participants will learn about the types of turtles found in Hawaii, why they are important to Hawaii’s ecosystems, what threats they face, and how to help to protect them.
