Today marks the 10th anniversary of this Korean drama column. In celebration of this anniversary, I have prepared a special event North Korea, A New Generation featuring North Korean defector Yeonmi Park. There is very little known about North Korea and life there. North Korean celebrity defector Park who has been on a global tour will be in Honolulu May 19 for a speech engagement free to the public to talk about her life in North Korea, why she decided to defect and the hardships she faced making treacherous travels through China and desert for two years finally ending up in South Korea. Many North Korean defectors have a hard time adjusting to life in South Korea and some have defected back to the North. Park was named one of Top 100 Women by the BBC last year.
The event will be held at St. Louis School’s Mamiya Theatre, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. Get your free tickets at honoluluboxoffice.tix.com/Event.aspx?EventCode=750975. Tickets are limited to two per email and you can print your tickets for the event. Honolulu Box office has a limited number of tickets, so act quickly. Happy Mother’s Day.
