Rebecca Tang and Genevieve Savage, a pair of rising seniors at Parker School in Waimea, hosted a letter writing session on July 6 at Parker School to urge governors across the country to protect reproductive rights in the wake of the Dobbs v. Jackson’s Women’s Health Organization ruling.
The event attracted 17 community members, who wrote a total of 39 letters. Most of the attendees were high school students.
Some of the attendees had never written a letter to a politician before, but had guidance from Tang and Savage who prepared templates, provided materials, compiled cited statistics about abortion, and compiled mailing addresses of governors in states with trigger bans.
