Kudos to our County Council for holding up the proposed development adjacent to Waikoloa Beach and Kings’ Course. I am all for affordable and closer housing for the resort workers and lower income residents, but this appears to be a throw in for huge development. What’s next? We play golf at the Beach, and the now nine-hole Kings’ Course. The Kings’ used to be a wonderful 18. Most all of the college tournaments were held there. That tells you the quality of this course.
Now nine holes are gone, and so is the income for many workers. This is the high time of the year for visitors, all we see is empty units everywhere along the fairways that remain. So whose development plans and projections are they using.
Obviously their own. They also claim that there is not enough land elsewhere? Who are they trying to fool. There’s land everywhere close to the resorts. Why not just build affordable housing for those who need it? We already have too many empty condos … and aren’t time shares a thing of the past? This used to be a beautiful area and two class golf courses. Don’t spoil it anymore, and please bring back the Kings’ 18. Don’t be misled by these developers. Our best interest is not theirs. For them it’s all about the money and they can build their time shares elsewhere. Thank you to the Council for recognizing this.

Hope they saved
the leftovers
As one of his bribery perks, former state Sen. Kalani English (D-Maui) treated family and friends to a crab feast. If he is convicted of his crime and is sentenced to time behind bars, we hope that some of his family and friends saved some leftover crab to bring him. Also, since a bit of time will have passed, we’ll hope that the leftover crab was frozen.
