HONOLULU — The Hawaii Department of Education wants feedback from the public that will help develop a school calendar.
The department is asking the public to take an online survey on school calendar models.
Until now, the department has developed the school calendar based on prior models, with input from educators. The calendar for the upcoming school year was approved by the Board of Education last year.
Survey results will help the department develop the calendar for the 2016-17 school year. The department says public input will help ensure the calendar maximizes learning opportunities while meeting needs of teachers and families.
Schools Superintendent Kathryn Matayoshi says developing a school calendar is a complex task.
