65% of Big Islanders fully vaccinated against COVID-19

The Big Island reported Monday 65% of its residents — or more than 130,00 people, were fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the latest Hawaii COVID-19 vaccine summary.

Meanwhile, 77% of the state’s southernmost island’s population has received at least one dose.

Across the state, 69.6% of Hawaii’s total population was fully vaccinated Monday; 77.9% of the population has received at least one dose.

As of Monday, 2,080,371 vaccine doses — including more than 45,000 booster doses — have been administered through state and federal distribution programs, up nearly 21,500 from Thursday.

The state estimates 107,064 eligible individuals have yet to receive a shot, down from 118,658 on a week ago on Oct. 5.
