Free CPR/AED training coming up
La’i’opua 2020 and the Hawaii Fire Department will partner to offer CPR and AED training on Aug. 9 in Kailua-Kona.
The training is free and open to the public from 5 to 6:30 p.m. It will be offered on the lanai at La’i’opua 2020, 74-5210 Keanalehu Drive. Participation will be limited and in keeping with all COVID-19 gathering protocols.

Little Miss Kona Coffee participants sought
Back again this year is another opportunity for young ladies on Hawaii Island to explore opportunities like public speaking and develop their confidence, self-esteem, poise and grace all at the same time. The push for participants in this year’s Little Miss Kona Coffee Scholarship Program is now officially in full swing.
The first orientation will be Aug. 15 at the Kona Elks Lodge 2616 new location at the Hualalai Center. Training and rehearsals will be every Sunday thereafter until the 50th anniversary Kona Coffee Cultural Festival Nov. 6 at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.
Participants are sought for the following categories: Mini Miss (ages 4 to 6); Little Miss (ages 7 to 9); Young Miss (ages 10 to 12); and Teen Miss (ages 13 to 16). A commitment fee of $75 is required.
