Gordon Patrick Ferreira, 68, of Hilo, died April 17, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he worked at The Fairmont Orchid – Hawaii and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by wife, Marsella Ferreira; sons, Devin Ferreira, Kiko Ferreira, and Gordon Ferreira; daughters, Kaua Kailianu, Alawina Hernandez, Trinidad Ferreira, and Thalsbeth Ferreira; mother, Violet Ferreira; brothers, Rocky Ferreira, Jamie Ferreira and Rilan Ferreira; sister, Wendy Lee; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Judith R. (Magruder) Stewart, 80 of Volcano, died April 7, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in St. Louis, she retired as a property manager

Angel Genobaga
Angel (Hanabaga) Genobaga, 86, of Hilo, died March 17, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 22, 1934, he retired as a plantation worker and mechanic for Kohala Sugar Co. and Kona Inn Hotel.

He is survived by wife, Regina Pereira; sons, Kalani Pereira, Ikaika Pereira, Byron Matthews, and Ben Watkins; daughters, Charlene Farias, Misty Torres, and Joy Johnson; father, Frank (Edith) Pereira; brothers, Fred Pereira, Frank Pereira, David Pereira and Dennis Feliciano; sisters, Puanani Cadaoas, Nadine Sumpter, Vivian Sacay, Denni Feliciano, Deedee Rude and Momi Feliciano; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Philip Jocson Jr.
Philip John Jocson Jr., 63, of Kealakekua, died March 21, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 18, 1957, in Kealakekua, he was a technician at Big Island Motors in Kona/Hilo and formerly a maintenance man at Kona Seaside Hotel, driver for Sunshine Helicopters, kitchen help at Huggo’s Restaurant, Teshima’s Restaurant, Sam Choy’s, Kaloko and the former Buzz’s Steak House.

He is survived by stepfather, Herbert Yamada of Kealakekua; hanai daughter, Cheyanne Kahele of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Yvonne Keanaaina of Honolulu, Jocelyn Kalilikane of Honalo, Phyllis (John) Alapai of Kealakekua, Theresa (Juan) Villanueva of San Diego, and Jennifer Jocson and Victoria Jocson, both of Seattle; and numerous aunts, uncles, niece, nephews and cousins.

Virginia M. Kapaku, 86, of Kailua-Kona, died April 10, 2021, at her residence. Born Nov. 3, 1934, in Kapulena, she was a museum historian for Nanaikapono Elementary School and member of Nanakuli Homestead Association, Nanaikapono Swingers, Hoala Kanawai, Ka Lahui, Ke Awawa O Na Pilikua.
