Momoyo Maehira, 89 of Kukuihaele and Hilo, died March 21, 2021, at her residence. Born in Kona, she was a retired restaurant cook at Honoka’a Club Restaurant and Kimi’s Restaurant, and a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.

She is survived by son, Gaillane (Deborah) Maehira of Hilo; daughters, Glynnis (Ron) Dolan and Patti (Kean) Umeda, all of Hilo, and Faye (Myles) Azeka of Lihue, Kauai; brother, Steve (Dorothy) Shimizu of Laguna Woods, CA; sisters, Betty Morioka of Honolulu, and Sue Tanaka of Seattle; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Lucy Wainee Ynigues Meyer, 92, of Hilo, died March 30, 2021, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Waipunalei, she was a retired Postmaster for the Laupahoehoe Post Office.

James Perreira
James “Kimo” Ryan Perreira, 74, of Hilo, died March 11, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 28, 1946, in Hilo, he was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, a merchant marine, worked for Hair Tree on Oahu and at Rainbow Hair Designs in Hilo, managed Pi’ilani Apartments, and held an active real estate license.

Job Tavares
Job Keola “Jobby” Tavares, 32, of Honokaa, died Feb. 17, 2021, in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, he was a Waipio Valley taro farmer, carpenter and small engine mechanic and member of New Beginnings Assembly of God Church in Waimea.
